One other note on this :

There are other options. For example: If you have one too many draft picks, 
you can trade a couple of them to move up in the draft (to a team that will 
be short a player after the draft), or you could trade a couple of draft 
slots for a lesser player on someone's roster, if they will be short a 
player after the draft, etc.
